Meet DR GPT™ on How I Doctor with Graham Walker
Three takeaways from my conversation with Graham Walker on patients using AI, communication and clinical responsibility.

A conversation with Graham Walker, MD
I joined Graham Walker on Offcall’s How I Doctor to discuss how AI is changing conversations between patients and physicians. The episode, published October 29, 2026, runs about 37 minutes.

Patients may arrive with an AI opinion
We discussed what happens when someone consults a chatbot before seeing a physician. A useful conversation begins by understanding what the person asked, what the tool returned and what they now believe. Confidence in an answer does not establish that it fits the patient.
Communication deserves attention
I described using generative AI to adapt explanations for different audiences, including age appropriate illustrations. These are examples to explore with clinical review. A more accessible explanation still needs to be accurate and understandable to the person receiving it.
Responsibility needs to be explicit
Graham’s introduction captures an important theme of our discussion: clinicians must remain accountable for decisions. For organizations adopting AI, that raises practical questions about who reviews an output and how problems are recognized.
