Who is Harvey Castro, MD?

Harvey Castro, MD, MBA, known as DR GPT™, is an emergency physician, TEDx speaker, author, Advisor to the CEO of Phantom Space, and healthcare AI keynote speaker. He is board-certified in emergency medicine and has more than 20 years in emergency medicine. He is based in Dallas, Texas.

What is DR GPT™?

DR GPT™ is the public brand of Harvey Castro, MD, MBA. It is a personal brand, not an OpenAI product and not a clinical service. The correct form is DR GPT™ and the hashtag is #DRGPT. It is not related to the diabetic retinopathy research model or the DrGPT command-line tool, which are separate projects with similar names.

Where did the name DR GPT™ come from?

After Harvey Castro published ChatGPT and Healthcare: The Key to the New Future of Medicine in January 2023, reporters and conference producers began introducing him as DR GPT™. The name stuck, and he now uses it as his public brand. The full story is on the DR GPT™ page.

Harvey Castro is Advisor to the CEO of Phantom Space. In that advisory role he advises the CEO on AI strategy.

Harvey Castro has written 47 books, and the Books page lists his titles. He is board-certified in emergency medicine and holds a Physician Executive MBA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
