Speaking topics

Topics for your event.

Three sessions on radiology AI, clinical decision support and immersive medical education.

The Pragmatist’s Guide to AI in Pediatric Radiology: From Pixels to Practice

A session led by a clinician on how to approach AI in paediatric imaging. It explains why children cannot be treated as “small adults” in AI validation, identifies realistic areas for decision support and education, and offers a practical framework for local evaluation, governance, and radiologist oversight.

  • Identify a genuine clinical or educational problem before considering an AI tool.
  • Ask whether a tool has relevant evidence in children, a clear intended use, and safe human oversight.
  • Plan a staged, measurable local pilot that considers safety, workflow, quality, experience, and equity.

Immersive Learning: How AR and VR Are Shaping Radiology Training

An overview informed by evidence of augmented reality, virtual reality, and extended reality in radiology education. The session covers anatomy teaching, virtual reading rooms, procedural simulation, emergency scenario training, implementation barriers, and meaningful educational outcomes.

  • Match AR, VR, or mixed reality formats to appropriate radiology learning objectives.
  • Understand where immersive learning may support anatomy, image interpretation, procedural rehearsal, and emergency training.
  • Build a phased implementation plan with realistic measures for learner engagement, skill acquisition, safety, and programme value.

Clinical Intelligence: AI for Informed Decision Making

A practical discussion of how clinical decision support can assist preparation, information synthesis, and workflow without replacing professional judgement. It distinguishes useful support from autonomous decision making and focuses on validation, governance, appropriate use, and accountability.

  • Differentiate clinical decision support from autonomous diagnosis or management.
  • Recognise common implementation risks, including hallucination, workflow mismatch, alert fatigue, and unclear accountability.
  • Use a framework led by clinicians to assess whether a proposed AI initiative is ready for research, a local pilot, or routine use.
